Dealing with the old lady

The Tinker is already over 45 years old at the time of this website’s creation. Handling a boat with care is not only a matter of safety, but also a matter of appreciation and respect for its history. We handle materials with care and avoid unnecessary peak loads. We prefer to distribute forces optimally to steer the boat as smoothly as possible through wind and waves. The same applies to cabinets, drawers, refrigerators, toilets, and everything else used on board.

Important, please read!

  • Please let us know by email when you will arrive at the airport.
  • Send us the name, date of birth, place of birth, home address, and a copy of your ID for each person. This is important because a crew list must be kept.
  • Once you have landed, please call us so we can tell you the exact location of the ship.
  • We board barefoot or wear specially designed shoes.
  • We recommend bringing water shoes for swimming, as there may sometimes be sharp stones or sea urchins.
  • Since the weather can be cloudy at times, we recommend bringing a windbreaker and raincoat.
  • Please do not use sunscreen on board, as the wind will spread it unevenly across the ship.
  • To protect yourself from insects on land and on deck, please bring your own.
  • Please do not bring suitcases, as they cannot be stowed. Only bags and backpacks that can be rolled up.
  • There are some snorkels and diving goggles available for rent on board, but not all sizes.
  • Bed linens and towels are provided.
  • Since the toilets clog with cherry stones and pistachio shells, these are not allowed on board (repair costs €300).
  • The railing is there to prevent anyone from falling overboard. It is not designed for sitting or standing on.
  • Only what we have eaten or drunk beforehand goes into the toilet. EVERYTHING else must be thrown in the trash. (This includes the toilet pier.) A clogged toilet will incur a €300 fine.
  • Please always close the toilet lid to prevent accidental falls.
  • Please use energy carefully; turn off the lights and fans when leaving your cabin.
  • Water is a very valuable resource; we should all use it carefully!
  • Please compact trash into small pieces.
  • Please wear dry pants and a shirt when sitting on the upholstered furniture below deck.
  • Remember that wind and waves could cause loose objects to fall overboard. (e.g., towels, beach shoes, cell phones, eyeglasses, etc.)
  • We purchase bottled drinking water.
  • Anyone wishing to swim out of sight of the boat must inform the skipper in advance.
  • In an emergency, the skipper’s instructions must be followed.

Since the weather is unpredictable, the route may need to be modified. We adapt to the environment and choose the most comfortable and safest route for everyone.
